In Christ There’s a New Person Coming Out in Them and You

The Lord is powerful enough to save those who are lost.  He is sufficient to bring our unsaved family members to Christ!

Hbr 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Today I was reminded that the improvement and softening we see from time to time when the Lord is working on a family member who does not yet know Jesus.  I firmly believe that if we lift them up to the Lord they will come to salvation. I don’t know when this will happen, but it will happen on this earth before they pass.  We must know salvation is a decision to turn to Christ made by them in a moment, but the months and years before this happens the Lord is beginning in them to grow a new man or woman who is waiting to come out. This is what we see when when we see momentary warmth, and this is why there is such a contrast!  We say, “how can this person be so nice one moment and then just a short time later be so cold and heartless, determined to separate?”  We say “It’s like there are two different people in them.”

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Well beloved, yes there are two different people in your prodigal, just as there are two different people living in you! Your old person is the one Christ has put to death on the cross.  While we are on this earth the old nature full of anger, wrath, and selfishness is what Christ is doing away with, and we deal with through Christ’s Grace and Forgiveness.   The new person is that which Christ begins raising up in you, sometimes starts to grow long before you come to Christ. If you have accepted Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit this person is very different than the old you. and if you have this people will remark how you’ve changed. Well, you will see this in your prodigal spouse come out – so different than the old.  Take heart!  Even though their old nature comes back, its days are numbered.  As we said in the beginning, Christ is powerful enough to save and grow a  new person inside of them and you too! If you don’t see it in your prodigal yet, keep praying and you will!

Isa 43:19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
